David Gonzales

Director, Certification Program

David Gonzales has been a career long educator. He has served as a classroom teacher, coordinator of student achievement, assistant principal, and building principal. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Colorado State University – Pueblo and a Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Northern Colorado.

David has worked in partnership with Courageous Conversation since 2003. As a classroom teacher, he partnered with Courageous Conversation in developing instructional lessons and units using the Collaborative Action Research for Equity (C.A.R.E.) model, to address racial equity achievement gaps. As a school administrator, again in partnership with Courageous Conversation, he was part of a school community that worked collaboratively using the Partnership for Academically Successful Students (P.A.S.S.) model, to enrich a school/community culture for the betterment of our children. This work brought focus and attention to the urgency of providing high quality education to all students.

David currently serves as the Director, Certification Program at Courageous Conversation. The certification program is designed to work with partner organizations in identifying individuals who are ready to learn and grow in the foundational work of Courageous Conversation About Race in order to attain systemic transformation. The certification program seeks to change outcomes and lives, starting with ourselves.
By seeking truth, utilizing the tools of Courageous Conversation®, and continuing his own learning and enhancing his teaching, David continues in his journey in seeking justice and love for all peoples.
