Dr. Kehaulani Haupu

Director, PreK-12

“Ohana” (Family) is at the center of Kehaulani’s life and it honors her Native Hawaiian heritage. In a career spanning over two decades in education, Dr. Haupu deeply understands the power of racial equity-focused professional development.

Dr. Haupu’s more than twenty years of experience in K-12 education has included multiple teacher level roles, including teaching middle school Language Arts/Social Studies and supporting teachers as a High School Literacy Specialist and Classroom Management Specialist. In addition, she served in various administrative capacities, including as a building administrator at the K-8 level, Assistant Director of ESL, Interim Senior Director of Instruction and District Equity Coordinator, where she worked closely with Courageous Conversation on ongoing system wide racial equity transformation for both instructional and operational staff. Part of this work included becoming certified as a Courageous Conversation Affiliate and training district affiliates to deliver regularly occurring Beyond Diversity sessions for district staff. In addition, Dr. Haupu worked on
numerous state committees to further the work of racial equity transformation in the area of teacher mentoring and licensure.

Courageous Conversation® helped guide her to her “why” in our work, which is to…Invite, Inform and Transform.
