Kojo Sheppard

L. Kojo Sheppard

Equity Transformation Specialist

Kojo Sheppard was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM and lives in Portland, OR. He is an Equity Transformation Specialist with K-12 District Partnerships.

Kojo earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Arts and Letters, and a Master of Science in Elementary Special Education, both from Portland State University in Portland, OR.

Kojo’s career spans over 20 years in education. He has served in various roles in Denver Public Schools in the central office as a database coordinator, as well as in the schools as a special education assistant and high school librarian. Fourteen of those year he served in Portland Public Schools as an instructional technology specialist for multiple schools, a K-8 special education teacher, restorative justice coordinator, MTSS TOSA, and an assistant principal at Harriet Tubman Middle School. More recently Kojo was an elementary school principal at Alder Elementary School in Portland, OR with the Reynolds School District.

Kojo enjoys working with people and organizations and is committed to lean into protocol and deepen his understanding and consciousness of how race shows up in his life. To this end, Kojo looks forward to building strong relationships with his colleagues and kindred spirits in the work.
